Volunteering

In SSWIM (Supporting Social Work in Malawi) we rely entirely on the work of volunteers for all of our activities. Our volunteers are social work academics, practitioners and others committed to improving the life chances of vulnerable children and adults in Malawi.

What can volunteers contribute?

Below are some of the tasks our volunteers have undertaken. But there is much more to do and we welcome ideas.

  • Academic visits to work with colleagues at Malawi University to develop the social work degree course.
  • Longer term secondment to join the Social Work teaching team at Malawi University
  • Consultancy and advice to curriculum review and consistency across Malawi for social work education
  • Teaching resources including textbooks
  • Support to establish a National Social Workers Association in Malawi
  • FUNDRAISING to enable SSWIM  to deliver on its objectives
  • Practical help to run the charity
  • Website and publicity
  • Co-authoring articles and resources to inform social work education and practice in Malawi
